02 — Principles

How we like to work.

Nothing exotic. Just the habits that, in our experience, decide whether an app ships calmly or turns into a long argument.

A

Scope before code

We agree on what version one must do, and write down what it won't. It's the cheapest decision in the whole project.

Progress you can open

Every couple of weeks there's a build on your phone. Status reports are fine, but a working screen says more.

C

Plain communication

You talk to the people doing the work. If something is late or a plan is wrong, you hear it from us first, in plain words.

D

Care after launch

New OS versions, store policy changes, small fixes, better onboarding. An app is never really finished, so we don't leave when it's released.

What do you need from me to get started?

A few paragraphs are enough: what the app should do, who it's for, and anything you already have, like sketches, a brand or an existing product. We'll come back with questions and a suggestion for the next step.

Can you take over an app someone else built?

Yes. We start with a review of the code, the backend and the store listings, then agree with you on what to fix first and what can wait.

Do you build for iOS, Android and the web?

All three. We'll suggest the setup that fits the product and your budget, rather than the one we happen to like best.

What happens after the app is live?

We keep it healthy: updates for new OS versions, fixes, performance work and improvements based on how people actually use it.

Do you work with clients outside Latvia?

Yes. Most of our work happens over email and video calls, so where you are matters much less than when you're free to talk.

A small studio in the east of Latvia.

Special Work is a software company registered in Daugavpils. We keep the team small on purpose, so every project gets people who know it inside out, and every client knows exactly who they're talking to.

We're happiest building things that are used quietly every day, and getting them a little better with every release.
